Our Impact

Impact is what happens when people, ideas, and community come together with purpose. Here you'll discover the difference our collective efforts are making—strengthening connections, expanding opportunities, enriching lives, and helping build a stronger community for older adults and everyone who calls Dedham home.

Our Vision

Bringing people, ideas, and resources together to enhance opportunities and enrich lives—not only for older adults, but also for volunteers, partners, and the entire community.

Evolving Areas of Impact

Our impact extends well beyond any single program or event. Through volunteer service, community partnerships, fundraising, outreach, and new ideas, the Friends help strengthen opportunities for older adults while building connections throughout the Dedham community.

Supporting Older Adults

At the heart of everything we do is a simple purpose: helping older adults in Dedham remain connected, engaged, and supported. We provide financial and practical support for programs, activities, services, and special opportunities that enhance everyday life and complement the work of the Dedham Council on Aging.

Building Community Partnerships

Impact grows when people and organizations work together. We build relationships with local businesses, nonprofit organizations, schools, community groups, and other partners that share our commitment to Dedham and its older residents. These collaborations bring together resources, ideas, people, and opportunities that none of us could create as effectively alone.

Community Outreach

We take the Friends into the community rather than waiting for the community to find us. Through local events, publications, fundraising activities, our website and digital communications, and face-to-face conversations, we help more people discover what is available to older adults—and how they can become part of it.

Volunteerism & Personal Growth

Volunteering isn't only about what you give. It's also about what you discover. Friends volunteers contribute their experience, talents, curiosity, and time while forming new friendships, learning new skills, exploring new interests, and finding meaningful ways to remain involved in their community

Innovation & Future Initiatives

We believe a 40-year-old organization can still think like a startup. We continually explore new ideas, technologies, partnerships, programs, and approaches that could improve the lives of older adults and strengthen connections across generations. Some ideas become programs. Others teach us something valuable and lead to the next idea.

Ways to Fuel Our Impact

Community support makes all of this possible. Donations, fundraising events, sponsorships, purchases, volunteer time, donated goods and services, and participation in initiatives such as Cans for Care all help turn good ideas into meaningful action. There are many ways—large and small—to help fuel our impact.

Join us in creating a brighter future for Dedham's older adults—and discover how service, friendship, purpose, and community can enrich your life, too.
